The twenty-first edition of Comuni Ricicloni has opened its doors. The contest that rewards the best municipal waste management systems is open to Municipalities, Municipal Partnerships and Consortia of mountain municipalities. To enter into the rankings of the ‘Re-Cyclones’, the Municipality must have achieved a level of 65% separate waste collection, as provided by the law. To participate in Comuni Ricicloni 2015, it is necessary to complete the on-line application which can be found at www.ricicloni.it or send the paper application by fax to 02.97699303, no later than the May 11, 2015. The waste management systems of participating municipalities will be evaluated in their entirety through the index of good management. The index gives a mark to the management of municipal waste across all its aspects and is calculated based on the values of a list of indicators. The list of parameters are assigned different weights, and the awards are distributed by classification based on the demographic size of the Municipalities and geographic groupings: the regions of the North, those of the Center and the South. Various awards are presented: those in the top category, given to the highest index of good management achieved in each Region for provincial capitals, cities with a population over 10,000 and small Municipalities. Awards in the second category are given for individual collections or materials. At the discretion of the jury, prizes may also be given for the best Green Public Procurement policies and communication campaigns. The jury has the right to introduce additional prizes in the event of exemplary cases which deserve to be recognised.
