Survey on sustainable packaging: the issue is a concern to older generation

18 November 2016

How much do consumers care about the environment, when it comes to packaging? Quite a lot, especially to those who have are over 50, 65% for whom this issue is important. This is highlighted by a poll commissioned by STI Group, which shows that, on average, the sustainability of packaging plays an important role for one in every two consumers. According to the responses, paper and cardboard packaging is considered more environmentally friendly than other materials. The poll also finds that when making a purchase, consumers are willing to spend a few cents more for sustainable packaging and have learned to recognise a few environmental labels. Among these, the best known is the FSC brand, although from the research it is understood that the brand is not always noticed and its presence is still not instrumental when deciding on a purchase.
